Job Description Services Sample Service Structures

Please note:

The outlines listed below are structures that have been used by DMG for recent projects. Specific pricing is determined based on the extent of information already in place in existing job descriptions, the format selected by the customer (which varies in scope and level of detail), and the method agreed upon for obtaining the information. Alternate service structures are available.

Update of existing job descriptions to include Essential Functions, Physical and Environmental demands:

  • Review existing job descriptions

  • Meet with employer contact to review/identify essential job functions

  • Based on interview with employer(s), compile physical/environmental demands

  • Provide draft job descriptions for review

  • Make all necessary edits and provide hard-copy and electronic-copy final product

  • Can include interview with incumbent as requested

Prepare new job descriptions from scratch – no existing descriptions in place:

  • Meet with department contacts to confirm list of job titles and department functions

  • Meet with employer contact to compile general job description and essential functions

  • Based on interview with employer, compile physical/environmental demands

  • Provide draft job descriptions for review

  • Make all necessary edits and provide hard-copy and electronic-copy final product

  • Can include interview with incumbent as requested

Conduct full on-site job analyses:

  • Meet with employer contact and employee/incumbent(s) to compile general job description and essential functions

  • Conduct direct observation of job being performed, including photographs, weights and measurements

  • Compile essential job functions, and physical and environmental demands, from interviews and observation

  • Provide draft job descriptions for review

  • Make all necessary edits and provide hard-copy and electronic-copy final product

While it is important that employers develop and maintain job descriptions, it is equally important that the documents be current and accurate and that consistent information is used for all parts of the employment process.

DMG can assist with:

  • Updating existing job descriptions - to include essential functions, physical demands, and environmental and mental demands (and showing you how you can keep these current on your own).

  • Creating new job descriptions - to include these elements, using your existing company format, or one of the formats developed and presented by DMG that best meets your needs.
